    Tires

I just heard on the radio of a potential problem. About six weeks ago i had a blowout on the freeway which resulted in a damaged rim and a replacement of a tire. At the time i asked repairman if it could be a defect and he wasn't sure. I asked how long the tires should last, he said 60k miles. I only have 40k miles, with still an okay tread. At the time i figured it was just an anomaly. *ak( dot number: )

    Tires

Tire blew when turning to parallel park - replaced with same. Since about 10,000 miles, the other 3 oe tires on vehicle have shown "peeling" rubber on the sidewalls to where the white inner belts are showing through in small areas. I had thought this was normal wear and tear in the south (i recently moved here from michigan) until i started hearing and reading in the last few days about the inherent problems with…

    Steering · Tires

While driving on highway, steering became wobbly & i pulled over. The tire collapsed just as i reached side of highway. Wife and infant were passengers. Called aaa & assisted by passing patrol car. Brought the tire to firestone dealer in natick, ma who *refused* to replace the tire for free and told me i must have driven over something. I traded in the ford six months later for a lexus. *ak( dot number: )

    Tires

I was traveling on the 280 freeway in san francisco traveling at 70 mph. I noticed the back of the vehicle started to sway to the side and the wheel of the vehicle was agile. After about a minute, i pulled to the side of the road. I walked to the rear of the vehicle and noticed that the right rear tire was completely torn apart. I am now concerned because of the recent recall of the firestone tires. However, my…

    Tires

I am wondering if any other tires are being added to the firestone/ford recall. My reasons for inquiry are very serious in nature. On may 05, 2000, while looking out the rear view mirror of my ford mustang, i watched my wife roll our 1999 ford explorer sport on the freeway at about 55 miles per hour. After my wife hit an object in the roadway, she began skidding perpendicular to the flow of traffic. While skidding,…

    Tires

I have had a blow out on one of the recalled tires. Obviously there is a danger of another one going, but i can't get anybody to talk to me(firestone and ford). They say i have to wait my turn. I stil have the shredded tire. I would think this would merit some kind of priority.luckily nobody was hurt, but who knows next time?( dot number: 027477 tire size: p235/75r15 )

    Tires

Side blew out of tire. Firestone dealer said it looked like the result of a prior hard impact with a curb. No such impact occurred. I'm reporting now in light of the firestone recall of other tires and the fact 2 firestone dealers said most instances of known tire failures on explorers were to the right rear tire.( dot number: tire size: 255/70 r16 )
