My husband and i bought a new 2000 ford limited explorer, equipped with firestone wilderness at tires. When the problem with firestone tires surfaced and the facts were revealed that both ford and firestone were aware of the tire defects and didn't initiate any action until the accidents started occuring here in the united states and vennezuela. The fact neither company brought the issue to the attention of their…

While firestone and even your investigation does not mention the "w2" firestone wilderness at tires, three of the four tires on our explorer began to crack radially on the sidewall of the tire at the base of the tread! The firestone dealer here looked at them and said they could do nothing. The cracks range from approx 1/8" to 3/4"long and are worrysome to say the least. We replaced the tires on our own as we could…

Very concerned about the safety of the tires even though they are not included in this recall. When i purchase a car of this price ($34,000+) i expect to feel safe and not worry about the safety of my children while riding in this car. I could have paid $10,000 for a used vehicle and felt safer, i feel betrayed by ford and firestone. *ak( dot number: tire size: 16 )

Failure to disclose safety concerns that were known by the manufacturer which would have influenced my decision not to buy it. I therefore want a full refund of my purchase less usage. Is this action appropriate?? Or do i need to seek redress elsewhere? No safety defect mentioned in summary. *ak

Replaced firestone wilderness tires after recall started....our tires do not bear the vd mark indicating decatur plant, but we found a hairline crack around the tire at the tread edge on at least one tire....we replaced with michelins and want to be reimbursed ...wondering if recall will extend to all wilderness at. *ak( dot number: tire size: p235/75r15 )

During tire check, dealer detected that wires were starting to come out of the sidewall of lf tire, from the point where the tread met up with the tire. The vehicle only has 6600 miles on it. My tires (dot 8xhl) are not recalled by firestone, but i feel that this is irresponsible given the nature of this defect. I have changed all of my tires to a different brand at my own expense, but would like to be compensated…

Apologies if this is not the place to submit this. Firestone does not respond. My 16" tires are from the decatur plant. Why are only the 15" being recalled? Same plant, same time, same tires. I am fearful of driving my children in this car. Please force firestone to replace all deadly tires.( dot number: vdcu tire size: p255/70r16 )

What make they think the 16" is safe than the 15" tires, i am driving in fear, i demand a replacement with a different brand.( dot number: tire size: 255x16 )

  • Tires

Local firestone dealer refuses to work with me on these tires since they were manufactured in canada, not decatur; i question the safety of any firestone wilderness at and have offered firestone cash $$$ to replace these tires, even though they are not included in the recall; i would support government intervention in getting all fireston wilderness at tires recalled and off the highways( dot number: tire size:…

I've not had a failure but it seems that the 16" tire has exhibited the same failures as the recalled 15" tire and ford voluntarily replaced all such tires in teh middle east. It seems imperative that the nhtsa require a recall of the 16" firestone wilderness tire as well as the 15" tire. My 16" tire, apparently, was produced at the same decatur, illinois problem plant.( dot number: vdcu tire size: p255/70-16 )
